Area teens are invited to a Metamorphosis @ Your Library this summer by participating in the Fairlee Public Library’s teen summer library program from June 18 to August 23. Teens are invited to come to the library and read for prizes as well as to take part in special events offered throughout the summer. Each participant will receive a cell phone charm, and a “Metamorphosis” bookmark and record log featuring a cool artwork by graphic novel illustrator Jan Duursema. The record logs have nine "honeycomb" sections of blank spaces that can be filled in to track your reading time, program and volunteer participation, and library visits. One space may be filled for every 20 minutes a teen reads a book or magazine, attends a program at the library, or volunteers at the library, as well as for each time you visit the library. For each section of honeycomb that is filled in when you hand in your log by the end of the program, your name will be entered in a drawing for a grand prize; and all participants will receive a certificate and a prize from FPL. Special events this summer will include: a "Big Bug Movie" on Sat. July 12, an "Un-Dye Your Clothes" craft program on Sat. July 26, and a "Digital Photo Manipulation Art Show" on Sat. August 9, each program to begin at 1 p.m. Teen volunteers would be most helpful for some of the activities of the summer reading program for younger children, "Catch the Reading Bug." The first is the "Independence Day Parade Float Preparation Day" on Sat. June 28 @ 1 p.m. Another is the Pet Parade on July 19. Contact Debra for more dates of "Catch the Reading Bug" activities. The teen summer library program will culminate on Sat. August 23 with an exhibition of the entries from the Photo Art Show along with presentation of prizes and certificates, beginning at 1 p.m.
